Welcome to the Sands Point Preserve Conservancy’s Gala Blanca: An Evening in France! Dear Gala Blanca Guests, Bonjour et Bienvenue! Thank you so much for joining us at Gala Blanca: An Evening in France, where the vibrant wildflowers and water views transport you to the French countryside while eclectic entertainers evoke the streets of Paris. We are thrilled to honor the great Jack Mandel, whose countless contributions have made a tremendous impact on the growth and success of the Preserve. And we are delighted to have you join us in recognizing his incredible leadership and generosity. Like the streets of France, the Sands Point Preserve brings beauty, culture, and joy to thousands of people each year. With mansion tours, nature walks, wellness events, festivals, recreational opportunities, and educational initiatives, the Preserve enriches the lives of all who visit. By attending Gala Blanca tonight, you are supporting all of this. In the last year, the Conservancy has taken on new projects to improve the Preserve’s visitor experience. We introduced goats to the property to clear harmful invasive plants and add a bit of whimsy to our forests. We expanded our efforts to halt the erosion of our coastal bluffs. We installed a sculpture garden next to the pond, bringing arts and culture into our natural spaces. And we offered new programs to appeal to new audiences including painting and creative writing workshops, tours on our history and our work with film and television, reading hours in Hempstead House, and Sunday afternoon concerts in our new Ice House lounge. We could not have done this without your generous support. Thank you for being here tonight and for visiting us throughout the year. Thank you for your commitment to protecting nature, history, and community. Merci. Merci. Merci! Best always, Karli Hagedorn Jeremiah Bosgang Chairman of the Board Executive Director
