Join us for this series of all-ages walks as we explore different aspects of the preserve’s environment, encompassing its unique physical features and wildlife, as well as critical conservation issues and helpful practices to create a healthy, sustainable environment.
Our expert guide, environmental educator Hildur Palsdottir, brings a range of perspectives for each outdoor adventure. Hildur will engage audiences in hands-on nature discovery activities, as we celebrate the changing seasons!
Earth Day Exploration – Saturday, April 26 10am – 12pm
Celebrate Earth Day at Sands Point Preserve with a relaxed, all-ages guided walk led by environmental educator Hildur Palsdottir. Together, we’ll notice the simple signs of spring—swelling buds, emerging wildflowers, animal tracks, and newly built nests—and enjoy watching the season come to life.
Along the way, we’ll learn about the plants and animals that call the Preserve home. For those who are interested, we’ll also show how to use iNaturalist to take part in the global City Nature Challenge (April 24–27), a fun, optional way to share what you see. By taking part, we help build a better understanding of our local environment—knowledge that supports its care and protection.
Come spend time outdoors, connect with nature, and enjoy a gentle walk welcoming to all ages and experience levels.
This event is FREE of charge but registration is required. Please email info@sandspointpreserve.org or call 516-570-2185 to register.
