Celebrate Earth Day at the Preserve with two FREE events:
Guided Nature Walk 10 – 11:30am
Celebrate Earth Day with a relaxed, all-ages guided walk led by environmental educator Hildur Palsdottir. Together, we’ll notice the simple signs of spring – swelling buds, emerging wildflowers, animals tracks and newly built nests – and enjoy watching the season come to life. Along the way, we’ll learn about the plants and animals that call the Preserve home. For those interested, we’ll show how to use iNaturalist to take part in the global City Nature Challenge, a fun, optional way to share what you see. By taking part, we help build a better understanding of our local environment. Come spend time outdoors, connect with nature, and enjoy a gentle walk welcoming all ages.
Admission is free but advanced registration is required. Email us or call 516-570-2185 to reserve your spot.
Beach Cleanup 11:30am – 1pm
Join our efforts to help prevent plastic and other harmful materials from polluting our oceans and help keep the Preserve’s beautiful shoreline clean. Join us anytime between 11:30am and 1:30pm. Bring your own gloves, all other materials will be provided.
Admission is free, advanced registration is not required. Email us or call 516-570-2185 for more information.
